HISTORY OF RISHIKESH
The place is associated with deities such as lord Vishnu and Lord Bharat, and it is also said that in the 9th century, Adi Shankarachrya established this place.
It is situated over the foothills of Gharwal Hills, with acres of running forest with clear blue skies and aromatic smell of soil.
WHY RISHIKESH IS CALLED AS CAPITAL OF YOGA?
The tourist both international and national come here to learn yoga and meditation. Here are ashrams which have been recognized internationally for philosophical studies, yoga and ancient studies on wellness and medicine.
The Uttrakhand tourism development board organizes the international yoga fest every year which attract thousand of people. Name of Rishikesh has been written in very mythological books. it is said that lord Rama came here along with his brother to do penance after killing Ravana.
Rishikesh situated in Uttarakhand is a place of adventure and spirituality. It is also known as yoga capital of the world. Millions of tourist come to explore its beauty and environment.

How to plan a trip to Rishikesh from Delhi?
By Bus
As few buses run on daily basis to Rishikesh with less stoppage in between the journey. It takes 6 hour to reach Rishikesh there are morning and night buses which run on this route.
One can board the bus from Kashmiri gate both private and public buses are available. The price of ticket may vary from day to day bases.
By Train
There approx. 6 trains which run on daily bases they take about 6 hours to reach the destination.
By Flight
Rishikesh is not having any public airport so the nearest airport is jolly grant airport in Dehradun approx. 35 km away from Rishikesh. One can reach the destination by taking flight from Delhi airport and the price may vary accordingly.
Best time to visit Rishikesh
Rishikesh is having pleasant weather condition its about 35 degrees in summer and never fall below 8 degree with make it suitable to travel. From late September to November is the best time to travel this place and enjoy the scenic beauty.
For the religious travel best time is to travel from June to July during September month.

TRIVENI GHAT
It is the most famous ghat where devotees perform ritual baths and famous ganga aart is performed here.on th bank of the river there are temples of gita mandir, triveni mata mandir, lakshminarayan temple.
VASHISTA GUFA
Here the great sage vashitha gufa done the meditation. This cave is managed by swami purshottamandand ashram.
KUNJAPURI DEVI TEMPLE
It is located on height of 1676 meters on hill top.it is said that temple is formed after the cheat of burned sati had fallen.
The temple is the part of three siddha peeths lying on the mountain in tehri Garhwal i.e. Gunja puri, Surkanda devi, Chandrabadni making triangle.
RAM JHULA
It is constructed in 198 with the help of sivananda ashram. It connects the ashram with swargashram.
THE BEATLES OF ASHRAM
It is the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh yogi ashram . it lie in the range of Rajaji National Park . The Beatles name is given as in 1969 Beatles music band travelled here and attain peace and wrote many songs.
Graffiti artwork is famous in the ashram.
NEER GARH WATERFALL
It is 5 to 7 km from lakshaman jhula . Having beautiful cool water flow and rich varierty of flora and fauna.
PARMARTH NIKETAN ASHRAM
It the ashram founded in 1942 by Pujya Swami Shukdevnandji Maharaj. The pilgrims come here across the world to take part in intensive course of yoga, meditation and pranayama.
LAKSHMAN JHULA
It s the oldest jhula built in 1929 with iron suspension with 450 feet in length and 70 feet above ganga river.at present this jhula connect two villages tapovana and jonk.

BADRINATH-290 Km by road
